Description

Last night, 2 November 2022, I was in a holding pattern 100NM from Sydney Airport, Australia, at 34000ft waiting for our turn to land. Heading South West outbound in the holding pattern I noticed this white cloud high towards the sunset. I believe the white cloud to be a Noctilucent cloud.
I may be wrong so please let me know in the comments.
I have never seen this phenomenon before. I managed to take a few shots with my iPhone.

UPDATE:
apparently it’s not a Noctilucent cloud:
Here is an explanation from an Atmospheric Scientist from the Australian Antarctic Division.

“  Early feedback from one of our atmospheric scientists is that the 'cloud' could relate to a satellite mission - the SpaceX Eutelsat HotBird 13G launch from Florida on 2 Nov at 0522 UTC (1622 AEDT). If our times are correct, your observation was about two orbits after the launch.

HotBird was put into a low inclination parking orbit which would have passed over Australia about this time, and was eventually boosted to a geosynchronous transfer orbit. While the time for the boost is not yet known, he suspects that your observation was of the boost. These type of events have been known to generate visible clouds under suitable lighting

so there you go.
I guess I should take down the post then?
